Tourism-bureau-and-destination-sponsored familiarization trips help operators get to know an unfamiliar area. Setting up a familiarization or fam tour that meets a busload of operators' needs, however, can be tricky. Some operators serve particular niches and pre-formed groups with specific ideas and interest to consider. Others cater to individual travelers and look for destinations with appeal to a broad audience. And time is another issue.
